After a day drinking beers at Valley Tavern in Noe Valley, I found myself at The Warfield for the first time since the remodel. For a Market Street institution, it was almost eerie how clean the place was.
We went to the bar to order our first of many $10 drinks and then found our way to the stage, which was amazingly easy. Using the stage as a place to set our drinks and having the cocktail waitress keepin’ them coming, we were there through the entire set of both The Antlers and Editors.
It was not a sold-out crowd, not even close, but the people near the front were enjoying themselves. The Antlers put on an extremely shoegazey performance which I enjoyed very much, but surely it did not gain them any new followers from the Editors camp. The Editors really rocked the house with their older material, but it seems I am not in the minority with thinking their newer material is not up to par. You could judge the year a song came out by the energy of the crowd.
